WHAT’S HAPPENING

WINTER CLOSURE: Zhilam Hostel will be closed December 15th through March 1st.

There should always be an employee at the hostel during the winter closure and you are welcome to stop by, check out our travel guides and view maps.  Maybe even get the staff to light you a fire and give you something warm to drink.  Unfortunately, we will not be able to host you overnight or serve food off our menu as the hostel will have been winterized and fully shut down.

Things to know when traveling through Ganzi in the winter:

• Road conditions can be hazardous during the winter.  We recommend that you use government transportation (buses) and not use private vehicles.  Government vehicles are given a regular safety inspection and drivers are well trained. Always carry extra food and cloths when traveling during the winter in case your get stuck.
• On a sunny day, the temperature  can be fairly warm.  But don’t get caught off guard without sunscreen!  You’ll burn to a crisp!
• Danba is generally warmer than Kangding.  Tagong can be very pretty in the winter.
• The road from Litang to Yunan is often closed due to road conditions.  Please check with local bus station prior to starting your journey.
