CUSTOMIZABLE Daily Itinerary
Day One
From Zhilam Hostel in Kangding (2560m/8,400 ft), prepare your supplies and head out to the trailhead in the morning. It will be a 4-6 hour journey on foot and horseback up to the Ambalay nomad camp (3850m/12,631ft) where Tsering Mo & Butrujey set up their summer camp. Stone houses have recently been constructed in the valley to accommodate the caterpillar fungus hunters in the spring time.
Overnight: Camp in Ambalay near Tsering Mo & Butrujey
Day Two
This day is all yours to enjoy the stunning environment of the Ambalay valley in the summertime!
You can enjoy the day with Tsering Mo & Butrujey
You can take a horse trip up to the top of the waterfall for stunning views of Chiburongi Konka (5928 m/19,448 ft) peak
Option #1: Leisurely walk up a beautiful valley with rushing glacier rivers. Snow peaks are in front and behind you.
Option #2: Try a strenuous hike to reach the beautiful glacier lake of Leduomayin, located just below Riwuqi pass and back to your camp.
Overnight: Camp in Ambalay near Tsering Mo & Butrujey
Day Three
Today is a reversal of your first day and you will head back down the beautiful Riwuqi valley. Even though you are returning on a trail already traveled, the views continue to appear new as you face them from different angles and in different lighting. 4-6 hours after your departure, you will arrive at the trailhead and a driver will meet you and take you back to Zhilam Hostel.
Overnight: Zhilam Hostel or other location of your choice
Basic Package
Base price per person: ~$55/day (¥360)
Price includes a horseman and horses for carrying supplies, but not horses for riding. This does not include tents, meals, etc. but if you’d like to add them, no problem!

English Guide Package
- We feel this is not necessary, but understand some may feel more comfortable with a fluent English speaking guide.
Food & Stove Package
Starting at- We will do your shopping, put together uncooked meals, provide you with a stove and utensils and you cook the food…
- Each additional person adds $15 to trip total
Horse Riding Package
- We will organize the whole expedition by horseback.
Cook Package
- We can arrange a cook to come with you on your trek (no guarantee on quality of food) 😉.
