Who is Patru?
Patru grew up as a nomad in the village of Yulongxi. Herding yaks through all the valleys and passes was second nature to him before becoming a teenager. Now with his own children grown, Patru has been organizing and guiding guests on treks throughout the Minya Konka region over the last 10 years. Having Patru organize your once in a lifetime trek to Minya Konka is definitely going to make your trip more pleasant than any other method we know!

As one of the four major holy mountains in the local Tibetan community, Gongga Mountain is considered as the ''Most Honored Mountain'' in Sichuan with an altitude of over 7500 meters. According to Buddhist teaching, many great Buddhist masters and gods, such as lngheda, the head of the sixteen Arhats, Heruda and Kalapali Dorje Lordrup have lived in this naturally holy palace. In Buddhist teaching, this mountain stands at a very important position and visiting is equal to visiting Sakyamuni's renowned ''Eight Buddhist Sites of Enlightenment.'' Gongga Monastery has been mentioned in masterpieces of Padmasambhava and H.H. the Fourth Karmapa. Many saints and scholars, such as Master Tangdong Gyelbu, Martse Dundrup and Jamyang Drapa have visited the monastery and left their valuable relics.
Gongga Monastery was officially established in 1285 by Drapy Hua, disciple of the H. H. Karmapa She Drup Shine. In the following seven hundred years, the monastery become the major religious site for all reincarnated Gongga Living Buddhas and it also become an important local tourist site, which attracts thousands of visitors and mountain climbers. With its charming scenery and peaceful environment, Gongga mountain and Gongga monastery welcomes everyone from all over the world.

Kangding to Gongga Monastery via Riwuqi

6 Day Trek
This is a popular 6 day hike starting in Kangding and ending at the 12th century Gongga Monastery. The basic package includes a horseman, adequate number of horses for carrying supplies (as opposed to people), monastery and park entry fees, transportation to the trail head and a guide.

We’ll arrange all transport, lodging, food, horses and guide. All that’s left for you is to take a ride by car and horse and you’ll be at the ancient monastery gazing on Gongga’s shinny glaciers and peak.
