༄༅།།ཨ་འབང་ལྷས།
Want to escape into a dramatic & magical valley, get lost in nature that takes your breath away and experience life with Tibetan nomads? If so, travel with trekking guide Patru to the nomad valley of his childhood to visit the nomads featured in Karin Muller’s film.
Pure nature. Pure beauty. Pure culture. Pure experience.

Not Your Typical Tours
Extravagant Yak & Zhilam Hostel have teamed up to offer you a way to personally visit Tsering Mo & Butrujey, the nomads in Karin Muller’s film! Patru will treat you like one of his own family members as he guides you to meet his brother Butrujey and sister-in-law TseringMo.
This trip is an organic, up close and personal opportunity that is hard to find anywhere in the world. Patru has decades of experience taking foreign travelers deep into the Minya Konka mountains and into the heart of Tibetan culture.
Not only that, but both companies have made sure that Tsering Mo, Butrujey, and the valley will also benefit from your visit. Both companies have high values on supporting local businesses and with either option you chose, the same proceeds will go to Tsering Mo’s family, as well as to a project fund that benefits the needs of the nomads and the valley, administered by Patru.

These are just some of the ways that traveling with Extravagant Yak will give you peace of mind while making this an unforgettable adventure!
Travel to Ambalay with Patru through Zhilam Hostel
This option departs from Zhilam Hostel in Kangding, Sichuan where Patru works as a manager & trekking guide. Patru grew up herding in the beautiful Minya Konka mountain valley and knows it intimately! He is beloved by nearly everyone and in true Tibetan hospitality, he will treat you as one of his own family. You are not a just a client, but an honorable & respected person to him. Because Zhilam Hostel is not a tour company, but we are supporting Patru as he begins his own tour business, you will need to do trip planning and preparations yourself. If you already feel comfortable traveling in China and are willing to go “off the grid” & provide for your own comfort level of safety, then we are delighted to help you and Patru visit his relatives in the valley beneath the mighty Minya Konka mountain, 7556m.
Summer Trek
As Tsering Mo and Butrujey are nomads, they are only in the high summer camp of Ambalay during the months of June, July, August & September each year. This trek to visit them is possible during any of these summer months each year.
